1. The best thing about a birthday celebration is getting to be completely and utterly selfish for one whole day without having to feel even a little tiny bit guilty about it. I try doing this every year and every year I fail miserably. I wrecked it for everyone else last year. They wanted to take me out to lunch (I think that was it) and I didn’t want to go because I didn’t want to waste the money. I know, not very fair of me, but it just felt like such a waste of money when it could have been put to better use, considering we have very little of it at the best of times.
2. Pain can be diminished by the passage of time but sometimes it just festers, causing a deep, agony filled wound.
3. I went shopping recently and the most interesting thing I bought was nothing. I don’t go shopping. At this exact moment, I can’t actually remember the last time I went shopping.
4. I can’t really think of any child's game that evokes wonderful memories for me. I wonder why that is?
5. A part of the reason is that you can be such an offensive, ignorant, degrading and disgusting pig whenever the subject of sex is raised or when you see an attractive woman, or any woman for that matter. Much of the time, the words that come out of your mouth just disgust me, they make me angry, I feel embarrassed and it completely turns me off. I ultimately find it rather difficult to think of anything to do with sex in a positive way because all I can hear is the filth and the bullshit that comes pouring out of your foul mouth. (Anyone for a cup of honesty?).
6. The snow (which we don’t have any of anyway) and cold have definitely left us and instead the heat and humidity have taken it’s place.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to just sitting here, in the kitchen, with my computer, bottomless glasses of coke and my packet of Lemon Sherbets, tomorrow my plans include _pottering around the house a bit and spending the evening with all my children in a positive way, with no fighting or yelling or arguing, and Sunday, I want to do some washing and folding (which I loathe), muck around on the computer for a bit and then do a bit of reading, maybe even finish the book that I’m currently reading!
- HYAMLC: Have yourself a merry little Christmas…
- TFNTADS: The first Noel, the angels did sing…
- GRYMGLNYD: God rest ye merry gentlemen, let nothing you dismay… [This is one of my personal favourites, I learnt to play it on the piano when I was quite young and would just play the thing over and over and over, it must have driven everyone nuts. The funny thing is that if you put me in front of a piano now, I couldn’t for the life of me remember how to play it!]
- ICUAMC: It came upon a midnight clear…
- SNHNAICAIB: Silent night, holy night, all is calm, all is bright…
- OTFDOCMTLGTM: On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
- DTHWBOHFLLLLLLLL: Deck the halls with bells of holly fa la la la la, la la la la…
- YBWOYBNC:
- JTTWTLHC: Joy to the world, the Lord has come…
I can’t for the life of me think what #8 is…

2 in the bed...:
For heavens sake.....show me the person who likes folding and I'll show you someone with no life! Washing, yes, I prefer clean things to dirty ones, but folding = a job I wish someone else would do. Hope your weekend had enough spare space in it to get to your book.....
i'm not a fan of folding, either, but i try to make it enjoyable in my own way (glass of wine- something stronger- and just sit and listen to the cbc for a few minutes). i suppose it helps that there are only 2 of us in the household.... if we had kids and there were heaps of laundry every couple of days... yeah, i'd need something stronger than the drink!
heat and humidity seem like such a distant memory right now! we got 120cm (~4 feet) of snow in 2 days this week! it's been fabulous! i got to call in to work for snow days, and we snowshoed, and dug paths in the yard for the dog to be able to pee, and sat by the woodstove with coffee and the pets... it was straight out of a postcard!
what book are you reading, Em? i've got a book that i'd like to share with you (if you're interested). i've actually got it as a pdf file, so i could email it to you if you wanted. let me know- you might find it enlightning. it sure changed the way i view my life... and NO, i'm not trying to sell you some religious text! : ) it's just an interesting read that puts life into perspective...
HUGS!
